Innovative organisation in face of digitisation and disruption
The future is already here!
We are living in the times when organisations are facing multiple challenges caused Disruption – Technological, Social, Economic and Organisational. But unlike any phase in the past, the changes are rapid and multidirectional. Terms like Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Robotics, Machine Learning are no more new to most of us and how they would affect each of the industry or business is still unknown.
Lots of organisations see it as Disruption, but enlightened ones see them as an opportunity for Innovation. Many organisations are pre-empting the likely impact and bracing themselves to minimise it by adaptation and by having new objectives and goals. The organisations are moving out of traditional business lines and identifying new arenas of growth – more in line with new global realities.
The organisations are also being reengineered to face challenges more effectively and come out as winners. Corporates are being subjected to scout for new skill sets and job roles and the entire paradigm of work, remunerations, training and retention are being relooked at.
The Global economic shift is also redefining priorities – Asia and in particular China and India are being look at as the drivers for economic growth for the world but remain challenges given large swaths of populations which are culturally varied, geographically widespread and economically not-so-well. They reain a challenge for being serviced, nurtured and made a reliable customer base and segment. May be, it would need concerted efforts and very innovative ideas to make them part of the economic mainstream.
Another tectonic shift is the Triumph of the Power of Idea. Many new corporations, which did not even exist a decade ago are amongst the most valuable today, much ahead of the traditional companies and brands which seem to have not moved fast enough with the times. Some erstwhile icons have lost the race to newer and quicker smaller players. The newer organisations are forcing the bigger ones to redefine their business models and traditional business practices.
